À propos de nous

Hi! We are 6th grade students from the Pawnee SEEK center in Overland Park. We love playing games and being creative together. We noticed how expensive board games were and thought we could make some fun games for all ages at lower prices.

Problème

One of our beginning game ideas is a 4-player medieval war game where you start as a civilization that gathers resources to fight a war with rival kingdoms. You buy soldiers to fight but they consume money each turn. You also place down lumber mills and mines to collect wood and stone, but they must be manned to work.

We also have an idea for a fish game where you compete to claim a new house in a coral reef.
You draw cards which tell how far you will move that turn as well as a positive or negative effect. There are also special cards that are improvements of other cards, but lead to a small negative penalty.

We thought games were getting too expensive (like $50-$80!), so we decided to make games for people for enjoyment. Board-On always puts customers before money. Our games cost under $30, and have a minimal $8 to $9 in profit. Board-On will price games based on reasonability, never on gains.

Solution

Our games will appeal to all ages, but our primary market will be kids in upper elementary to middle school. We think our club members’ parents may want to stay and play the games, too!

Marché cible

We will put up flyers in the JoCo libraries advertising our club. We thought we’d start small and sell games to club members to get the word out. We will also be making a website to sell games and keep our club members informed.

Impact sociétal

We are unique because we are forming a club that will meet weekly at the JoCo library to play our games. Club members can give feedback directly to us. You also get to help with the game creation process! Our main idea is to get people off their screens and in community with other board gamers.

Prochaines étapes

We would benefit from having mentorship to get our business up and running!

Nos écoles et districts

Utilisation des contributions des contributeurs

If we win the Chamber Pitch Competition, we would plan to spend most of our budget to buy the materials we need to build several games for testing and for our club members to buy if they choose. We also plan to make a website to keep our members informed about our meetings and games, and that will have costs.

Merci à nos supporters !
