Semester Challenge: How will my business ensure legal compliance?

Business Law students are challenged to develop and refine a pitch explaining how their selected business will ensure legal compliance. Each student has chosen a business connected to their personal interests, which will serve as the focus of their legal study throughout the semester.

Feedback will be accepted throughout the month of April. From April 20–27, students will publicly share their pitches to collect tokens. Any pitch that earns at least 20 tokens during the semester will receive a prize, allowing multiple students to succeed. Through this process, students will strengthen their legal reasoning, business planning, and professional communication skills while engaging with real-world perspectives from community partners.

À propos de nous

Hey there! I'm Jude Strahm, I'm a senior at Shawnee Mission South High School in Overland Park, Kansas. I've had an amazing time getting involved in a variety of extracurricular activities, like the National Honors Society, Varsity Track, and a Bible study group called Rooted in Faith. I'm proud to hold a 4.1 weighted GPA and I'm excited about the next step in my journey: attending Arizona State University's business school! My passions are all over the map, I'm super into personal fitness, film, and trading stocks. Looking ahead, my dream is to dive into the world of real estate private equity and eventually launch my very own real estate development company. For now i'm looking forward to creating a profitable and marketable A.I. Trading Algorithm under the company name Edge Algorithms.

Problème

My business is going to have one product: An A.I. day trading algorithm. When analyzing prediction markets during high impact news events or even market open during a high news day, I noticed something... manipulation. On a low news day traders are lucky to get a 1.5-2.0 risk to reward ratio. On a succesful trade with a 2.0 r/r a trader should make $1,000 if they were risking 1% using a 100k funded or live account. Now under my algorithm the A.I. won't go after these trades, It will actively seek manipulation in the market, something most traders avoid. On April 7th if you hedged the high impact news events meaning you place both short and long positions with stop losses at the relative lows and no take profits. You would have immediately been stopped out in the short position causing a loss of $1,000. but if you held your long position while actively moving your stop loss to the lowest fair value gap after the most recent low you would've profited a staggering $16,700. With net profit being $15,700. Now hedging stocks in certain scenarios is illegal in the United States, despite this there are many work arounds including using calls and puts using the nasdaq and other corresponding indices or ETFS (which are completely legal and even used by smart money firms). I will use an LLC to protect my personal assets from business debts or lawsuits.

Solution

Scenario: A user loses money and claims the AI was negligently designed.

Prevention: Clear disclaimers, rigorous backtesting on out-of-sample data, and user terms that acknowledge trading risk.

Marché cible

4 elements: Offer (subscription), consideration (fee), capacity (18+), mutual assent (click-to-accept).
IP assets: The trained AI model (trade secret), brand name, logo.
Protection: Non-disclosure agreements, private model weights, trademark on "Edge Algorithms."

Impact sociétal

Fair wages: Hourly + equity.
Safety: Data security protocols.
Honest advertising: No guaranteed returns. "AI analyzes historical patterns to generate trade ideas."
Refund policy: 7-day trial; no refunds after access granted.

Prochaines étapes

Find the work around for hedging stocks in other countries and within the U.S.A. Back test the algorithm using years of data, Bring in a coder/programer to automate the algorithm using artificial intelligence.
