Welcome to the SMSD Student Chamber's Business Showcase! This is an inspiring business competition designed to highlight PK-12 students who run REAL businesses in the Shawnee Mission School District. The top five business owners with the most votes and highest judge ratings will present their business ideas to a panel of esteemed judges and a vibrant audience on April 30.

Awards at the live April 30 Business Showcase are:

1st Place: $1,100
2nd Place: $600
3rd Place: $300

Students are challenged to answer the following questions with their pitch:

Part 1: Describe the problem and products/services that you are selling (including pricing).
Part 2: Describe your target market.
Part 3: Customer Reach/Channels
Part 4: Competition and what makes you different?

À propos de nous

I started my detailing business in May of last year. Just started cleaning my parents' and family members' cars. I would charge nothing because it was practice work. Once my name started to get out there, I had more and more clients coming in; more than I thought I would have.

November was a good month to me. I had been booked out for a week straight with clients coming in left and right. Then December came and slowed down. I am starting to get it back up. It has always been my passion- I like cars. I like cleaning them and also working on them. This year I am going in stronger than last.

Problème

My business is offering detailing services, including basic interior detail for $50 or full interior detail for $120-$200.

Solution

I give out my flyers to people who love taking care of their cars, trucks and ATs. People love their cars cleaned during the summer. My target market is in Overland Park or within a two hour drive. I am also interested in contracting with people who have businesses.

Marché cible

I use Tiktok and Facebook. On Facebook Marketplace, I put up listings to offering my services. I also drive to the houses and hand them out or offer a free exterior detail on big houses to get a good word of mouth.

Impact sociétal

My competitors include: KC Detailing, Sunshine Details and Fleet Details.They have been providing services for a couple of years now. I offer quality work and I am very good with my time so I can do multiple cars in a day.

I need a job around Overland Park or in KCK , since I need to buy more tools. I also will need more clients.
