About

Hello, my name is Leon. I’m in 10 grade at shawnee mission south high School. I don’t have a lawn mowing business yet, but I’m interested in starting one maybe next summer . I like working outside and I want to learn how to earn my own money, so my presentation is about my idea for a lawn mowing business and how it could work.

Part 1:

The Problem
“Many people don’t have the time, energy, or tools to mow their lawns regularly.
Some are busy with work, some are older, and some just don’t like mowing.
When lawns aren’t mowed, they look messy and can get more weeds.”

Part 2:

My Solution (The Service)
“My idea is to offer a simple lawn mowing service in my neighborhood.
I would mow people’s grass on a regular schedule so their yard always looks neat and clean.
I could also do basic trimming around sidewalks and driveways to make it look even better.”

Part 3:

Who I Would Help (My Customers)
“My main customers would be people in my neighborhood, like:

Busy families who don’t have time to mow
Older people who find mowing difficult
Anyone who wants their lawn to look good without doing it themselves.”

Part 4:

How It Would Work
“At first, I would start small with just a few lawns near my house.
I would:

Talk to neighbors and ask if they’re interested
Agree on how often to mow, like once a week
Charge a simple price per mow, depending on the size of the yard
Try to be reliable by showing up on the days we agree on.

Next Steps

Immediate Next Steps
The next steps for my lawn‑mowing project are:

Talk to my family about my idea and get their support and safety rules
Research prices of lawn mowers and basic equipment
Make a simple plan for which days I could mow and how many lawns I could handle
Create a small flyer or message that I could use in my neighborhood to ask if anyone is interested”

Other Information

Focus on the Skills i Learned
This project taught me several important skills. I learned how to:

Break a big idea into smaller steps
Think about money, costs, and funding
Plan how to solve a real problem in my community

Resource  |  Support Needs

I just started my business so my focus will be basic equipment and getting started.

Lawn mower – A reliable push mower so I can mow different sizes of yards
Gas or battery/cord – To power the mower so I can keep working each week
Safety gear – Closed‑toe work shoes, safety glasses, and maybe ear protection
Trimmer or edger (if possible) – To clean up around sidewalks, driveways, and fences
Basic maintenance supplies – Oil, spark plug, or sharpening the blade so the mower lasts longer
