About
I am a 6th grade student at Sunflower Elementary in Lenexa, and a SEEK student at Pawnee Elementary. I designed my business idea as part of our entrepreneurship minicourse in SEEK. We worked with high school students from the business program in the SMSD, who inspired me to give this a try! I love to cook, bake, and be active. Eli's recipes is a way for me to spread the love of cooking to other kids, and young adults learning to be on their own.
Part 1:
The problem is that many people don't how to cook. This an important skill for later in life! My solution is teaching people how to cook, through a course with fun and easy recipes.
If you sign up on my website for my recipe subscription service, I will bring a different recipe and its non-perishable ingredients to your Lenexa doorstep weekly. However, if you live farther away, you can do porch pick up.
First time subscribers will receive a gift of essential kitchen tools: a whisk, spatula, measuring cups, and spoons.
The pricing will differ between what plan you choose and how you customize it, however it's typically $4-5 per recipe and $15-20 per month.
Part 2:
My target market is children, teens, and young adults who would like to learn to cook and bake simple recipes, but are not sure where to start.
Part 3:
I would partner my friends and family to spread the word. Another idea I came up with is to consult a nutritionist to make ideas for new recipes. I would market my business using social media like Facebook and Nextdoor.
Part 4:
What sets me apart from other services like Hello Fresh and Raddish Kids?
My service is easier for parents because the recipes will start out simpler for young beginners, requiring less help from adults.
In addition, you can subscribe by the month, without having to sign up for 6-12 months with no way to cancel the subscription.
My subscription service is very highly customizable to your liking, or dietary restrictions.
Also, you can use your included tools to measure out ingredients instead of having pre-measured ingredients. Any excess of ingredients can be used for later recipes.
In addition, we are different from Hello Fresh and E-meals because you actually get to cook the meal instead of just putting it in the microwave. This helps you become more confident as a cook.
My business is also much more affordable than others. The pricing will differ between what plan you choose and how you customize it, however it's typically $4-5 per recipe and $15-20 per month. While Hello Fresh and other services can cost up to $80 per month.
Next Steps
I made the finals for the SMSD Pitch competition, so I will be presenting at that. Should I get the funding, I would benefit from mentoring to get my business up and running this summer.

Resource | Support Needs
It would pay for website costs, ingredients for my first few recipes, and tools to help with delivery (like add-ons for my bike).
