Welcome to the SMSD Student Chamber's Business Showcase! This is an inspiring business competition designed to highlight PK-12 students who run REAL businesses in the Shawnee Mission School District. The top five business owners with the most votes and highest judge ratings will present their business ideas to a panel of esteemed judges and a vibrant audience on April 30.

Awards at the live April 30 Business Showcase are:

1st Place: $1,100
2nd Place: $600
3rd Place: $300

Students are challenged to answer the following questions with their pitch:

Part 1: Describe the problem and products/services that you are selling (including pricing).
Part 2: Describe your target market.
Part 3: Customer Reach/Channels
Part 4: Competition and what makes you different?

About

My goals for this busisness is to promote satisfaction to customers and helping people out because some people cant landscape I think its a great busisness idea because im helping customers while in a profitable demanding busisness because people will need their yards worked on and were here to help every customer.

Part 1:

The problem is old yards that are out of date that homeowners are willing to change.


- Mow small residential yard
- Mow Medium Residential yard
- Sprinkler installation

- Snow shoveling residential area
- Ice removal
- Snow Salt installation

Basic Landscaping - This includes small adjustments to your yard such as mowing trimming. Watering and fertilizing as quick job and as basic as you can get range from $500-$1,000.
Medium Landscaping - This includes planting flowers or simple shrub installations. For a smaller project, the cost can range from $2,000 to $5,000.
Large Projects - If you’re adding features like a pathway, retaining/fixing walls, outdoor lighting, or a small patio, your costs could range from $6,000 to $12,000.
service fees can vary by a few dollars based on how far you live or the length of your yard.

Part 2:

Target audience would be elderly people that cant get the work done themselves or just regular neighborhood members in the community and also reach out to companies and start commercial landscaping for other business just helping the whole community out

Part 3:

sales channels my who would be people in need for work but don't have proper supplies or people might not have time and it would just be local neighborhoods in my city and lenexa in some conditions but for most efficient work we'll be local for a few months before we start expanding

Part 4:

Social media accounts like instagram and tiktok will promote the busisness also landscaping posters will be put up around overland park with a cell phone number to call and reach out for landscape service
