Competition Brief

Invent a tool, game, or app that helps people understand the weather better. You could design a fun weather app, a new weather station, or a cool experiment!

About

We are a team of students who love the weather. We all can tell you every meteorologist's name in town and their background to how they got here. Being passionate about the weather, we decided to enter our pitch on why Rain is the best weather. We hope that you will hear our voice as you look at our pitch, and help support us as we reach for a scholarship to be use for meteorology camp.

Problem

Our community is in dire need of rain. With farming and agriculture reigning in our area and with the aquifers quickly drying up, rain is a necessity for life. However, our rain numbers have consistently decreased over the past 25 years.

Solution

Education on the effects of climate change and rain's relation to agriculture, the community, and the future.

Audience | Target Market

Anyone who enjoys the weather, farmers, individuals who garden

Learning Outcomes  |  Community Impact

Education on the effects of climate change and rain's relation to agriculture, the community, and the future.

Next Steps

- Meeting with local farmers and ranchers to see how the drought has affected them - gain personal stories and videos for marketing
- Meeting with local meteorologists and climate experts on the effects of rain in our area
- Sharing the impact of rain in our area and stories on various social media platforms

 Reflection  |  Other Info

We were passionate about the weather before, but had no context as to why that mattered for life in our community. This opened up our eyes to the impact.
